Wet Leaves Weekend – May 6th-8th
After such fantastic April weather, we have had a wet weekend in the UK and tomato plants do not like wet leaves and soaking wet soil.
If your plants are outside, try to provide them with some kind of shelter – just enough to keep them from a good soaking. It will prevent them from fungal diseases, especially the dreaded tomato blight!

British Tomato Week – May 15th-22nd
This season’s British Tomato Week will take place between May 15th and May 22nd 2011.
This event takes place to promote British Tomato Growing and as such, many garden centres up and down the UK will be showing just how easy it is to grow your own tomatoes.
There will be large displays of tomato plants and related products plus staff to give advice. Check out the garden centres in your area for details.

Landshare
Check out the “Landshare Project” which connects people who want to grow vegetables with people who have land to share.
There are over 60,000 members who have joined so far. So if you fancy growing your own but don’t have access to an allotment, find out more here: http://www.landshare.net/ and check out the video below. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall explains it much better than I can!
